Rs. 84.7 lakh was realized from these offenders

South Central Railway intensified drive towards maintaining cleanliness o­n railway premises by undertaking intensified checks against littering and spitting etc., o­n railway premises and trains in tune with the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Station Managers, Ticket Collectors and other authorized railway officials are carrying out these check in railway premises and trains with a view to  provide a clean and pleasant rail journey to the passengers.

During December, 2014, 4383 persons were apprehended for violating the provisions of Indian Railways (Penalties for Activities Affecting Cleanliness at Railway Premises) Rules-2012. This includes 1223 persons in Secunderabad Division, 2157 persons in Vijayawada Division, 673 persons in Guntakal Division, 25 persons in Hyderabad Division, 69 persons in Nanded Division and 236 persons in Guntur Division were detected and penalized for violating  the rules regarding maintaining cleanliness at Railway premises. An amount of Rs. 8.75 Lakh was realized from these offenders towards penalty.

Cumulatively, during the nine months period from April to December, 2014 of the current financial year, 42350 persons were detected and penalized for violating cleanliness rules in all the six Divisions of SCR. An amount of Rs. 84.7 lakh was realized from these offenders towards penalty.
