RPF arrested six criminals with huge cache of stolen articles
The Railway Protection Force at Lucknow & Govt. Railway Police, Kanpur arrested six criminals with a huge cache of stolen articles including gold items (mangal sutra, rings), laptops, tablets, mobiles worth aprrox. Rs. 200000/-and interrogated them with the incriminating material. Confessing to their crime, the criminals also accepted their role in six other crimes committed in trains and revealed their modus operandi. The cohorts travel on reserved tickets in long distance trains on Kanpur-Lucknow and Kanpur-Faizabad sections on night journeys. Working in tandem, they keep a stealthy vigil on sleeping passengers in the coach, cut pockets of sleeping passengers, steal handy items with valuables like purses, bags and de-board surreptitiously at enroute stoppages during the dark hours. All these crimes have been registered with the GRP on Lucknow Division on Northern Railway.
