Special Drive on Unauthorized Hawking cleanliness food items unauthorized
As per Press Released by South Central Railway has conducted a Fortnight long Special Drive against unauthorized hawking, overcharging and poor quality of food. The Special Drive held from 1st to 15th March, 2017 led to booking of 3400 cases, which realized an amount of Rs. 12, 38, 237/- as penalty for the lapses detected. 112 persons were also sent to the Court for prosecution. These special teams involved in the Catering Drive extensively checked Railway stations and trains in all six Divisions Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded.
The checks were also meant to inspect the cleanliness being maintained at base kitchens, quality of food items, correct weighment of food items, proper adherence to the preparation process of all food items etc. In order to ensure that the food stalls on railway station platforms are manned by staff properly, punitive fines have been imposed on them as well as vendors in trains for not carrying proper identity cards. Priority is also being given to curb any type of unauthorized hawking in the railway premises and trains.
