Rail Traffic Disrupted in Punjab Due to Floods

Due to severe flooding caused by heavy monsoon rains and rising river levels in Punjab, numerous trains have been cancelled, diverted, or are running late. As of September 7, 2025, the rail traffic in the Ferozepur and other divisions of Northern Railway has been significantly affected.

  • Ferozepur – Dhanbad Ganga Satluj Express (13308) was diverted via Ferozepur-Moga-Ludhiana.
  • Dhanbad – Ferozepur express (13307) was diverted via Ludhiana-Moga-Ferozepur.

Short-Terminated/Short-Originated Trains

  • Several trains running between Jalandhar and Ferozepur (including 74931, 74934, 74933, 54644, 74935, 74936, 74938, 54643, 74937, and 74940) have been short-terminated or originated at stations like Lohian Khas (LNK) and Makhu (MXH).
  • Multiple trains on the Amritsar-Dera Baba Nanak (ASR–DBNK) section (including 74651–74658) were short-terminated or originated at Hardo Warblal (HDWL) due to waterlogging.

Late Running Trains

  • Jalandhar City – Hoshiarpur passenger train (54638) was delayed by 100 minutes.

The disruptions are primarily due to the Sutlej river reaching the danger mark near bridge no. 84 between Makhu and Gidarpindi, and other instances of waterlogging and track damage in the region. Authorities are taking these measures as a safety precaution.
