imposed fine on 3 Lakhs 22 Thousand 430 persons
During the period i.e. from April 2014 to January 2015 of the current fiscal, East Coast Railway has imposed fine on 3 Lakhs 22 Thousand 430 persons who have travelled without or with improper tickets during train journey which is 32.44% more than the corresponding period of last year and realised Rupees 13 Crores 19 Lakhs 10 Thousand, registering an increase of 31.41% than the corresponding period of last fiscal. Up to January 2014 of last fiscal, ECoR had imposed fine on 2 Lakhs 43 Thousand 450 passengers and realised a sum of Rupees 10 Crores 03 Lakhs 83 Thousand only.
From the month of January 2015 only, East Coast Railway has imposed fine on 40 Thousand 870 passengers travelling without or with improper tickets which is 65.13% more than January 2014 and realised Rupees 01 Crore 61 Lakhs 03 Thousand, registering an increase of 63.57%. During January 2014, ECoR had imposed fine on 24 Thousand 750 passengers and realised a sum of Rupees 98 Lakhs 45 Thousand only.
Under this kind of fortress checks, a large number of ticket checking personnel are deployed at different stations including Ticket Checking Squads along with a substantial strength of security personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Commercial Officers from the ECoR Headquarters at Bhubaneswar and Divisional Commercial Officers over ECoR actively monitor such fortress checks to detect persons traveling without or with improper tickets.
