highest ever earnings from ticketless and irregular travel
Central Railway has always been persistent in curbing ticketless / irregular travel through its massive checking drives. During the current financial year i.e. from 2014-15 (April to March) a total of 21.31 lakh cases of ticketless / irregular travel have been detected in these drives, as against 19.37 lakh cases detected in previous financial year i.e. 2013-2014, which shows an increase of 10 %.
During 2014-15 a total of 8.56 lakh without ticket cases were detected as against 7.38 lakh without ticket cases during 2013-14 showing an increase of 17.76%.
The amount realised from these cases of ticketless / irregular travel in the financial year 2014-15 is Rs. 100.95 crore as against Rs. 87.25 crore realised during previous financial year 2013-14, showing an increase of 15.70 %. The earnings so realised from the ticketless / irregular travel during the current financial year is the Highest Ever earnings realised from ticket checking.
