2. Upgrade of the Reservation System (PRS)
Railways is finally replacing its 40-year-old booking system with a modern, high-tech version starting this August.

- Online Growth: 88% of people now book tickets online, and the “RailOne” app has hit 3.5 crore downloads.
3. “Kavach” Safety System Expansion (₹362 Crore)
A major fund was sanctioned to install the Kavach (Automatic Train Protection) system on Northern Railway.
- Location: Over 1,478 km across the Firozpur and Jammu divisions (including the route to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra).
- Benefit: This technology prevents two trains from colliding even if the driver misses a signal.
4. New Railway Zone (SCoR) Confirmed
A official notification was issued on May 4, 2026, finally forming the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone.
