100 feet National Flag was hoisted Chennai Central Railway Station by railway GM
As per Press Released the first monumental National Flag in Chennai Division of Southern Railway was hoisted today, the 15th February, 2019 at Chennai Central Railway Station.
The Flag at a height of 100 feet is provided at the entrance of the Concourse Area of Chennai Central. The flag is 100 feet tall pole made of approximately 2 tones of Galvanized Iron Pipes telescoped into one another to form the pole. The flag cloth is made of polyester. The cost of the flag and the pole and the installation is 15 lakhs.
The National Flag was hoisted by Shri R.K.Kulshrestha, General Manager in the presence of Shri.R.K.Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway in the presence of Shri Naveen Gulati, Divisional Railway Manager, Chennai Division, Principal Heads of Departments, Railway Officers and staff.

According to the prevailing wind force and direction the location has been selected, in such a way that the flag will fly without any hindrance. Arrangements have been made for Half-mast level flag position if situations warranted such as mourning.
Hoisting is easier but removal and folding of this Flag requires minimum 8 persons.
Lighting & Aviation Obstruction Indicator and LED red lamp arrangements have been provided at the top with antique mast top made up of Fibre material.
