Officers closely monitoring revenue loss due to ticketless travel

Central Railway comes down heavily o­n ticketless travellers by conducting intensive campaign against them. In its endeavor to provide better services to its bonafide rail users and also to curb the ticketless traveller, CR has regularly taken innovative steps. Senior Officers are closely monitoring the revenue loss due to ticketless travel and such other irregularities.

Central Railway conducted regular checks during July 2015 where in a total of 1.81 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel including unbooked luggage cases were detected, as against 1.34 lakh cases detected in July 2014 thus showing an increase of 34.42% in number of cases. The amount realized in July 2015 is Rs.8.53 crores, as against Rs.6.22 crores during the corresponding month last year, thus showing an increase of 37.22% in earnings.

During the month, 295 cases of illegal transfer of reserved tickets were detected and an amount of Rs.2.18 lakhs was realized as recovery.

During the period from April to July 2015, a total of 9.97 lakh cases were detected as against 7.74 lakh cases during corresponding period last year, thus registering a record increase of 28.88% in number of cases. An amount of Rs.53.40 crores were realized from them as fine against Rs.38.78 crores during corresponding period last year, thus registering a record increase of 37.70% in earnings.

Central Railway appeals to the passengers to travel with proper and valid railway tickets in order to avoid inconvenience and travel with dignity.
