Railway authorities on Monday flagged off a weekly train from Ahmedabad to Lucknow. Another train to UP, bound for Allahabad from the city, will start operating from November 13. These trains, along with a weekly that connects Patna to Ahmedabad (launched on Sunday night) carry the freight of a theory suggesting that the Centre wants to pamper states where elections are due.
Sources cited the railway budget, announced by Sadanand Gowda – who held the portfolio at the time of the budget – to recall the plan to operate new trains from Ahmedabad to Pune, Delhi, and Rewa in Madhya Pradesh.
